COLT STARTING FROM THE GROUND
UP
HERES WHAT CLINTON ANDERSON SAYS ABOUT PROPERLY
STARTING COLTS: "The first 6
weeks of riding in a two year old lay the foundation for the rest of
his life" . The good AND the BAD experiences
never leave him. You have a huge
investment in a 2 yr old prospect....WHY WOULD YOU
SELL HIS FUTURE OUT TO THE
LOWEST BIDDER ??
|
This is not your average
"hobble him and saddle him" deal. In 60 to 90 days your
colt will be able to do the following:
- Saddle, while standing quietly
ground tied
- Ride quiet and relaxed
- Break at the poll and give
laterally
- Back up, side pass and stop
easily
- Lope correct circles in or out
of the arena
- Open gates off of him
- Throw a rope off of him and be
"rope safe"

Jetta
PATTERNING/SEASONING ON BARRELS AND
POLES Liana focuses on getting a strong
foundation on the horse before the patterning begins.
Good body control is a must, along with a soft
mouth, mind and body. Horses are
encouraged to work at only the speed that they can
work correctly and on their
own. This means going a little slower, but
you end up with a lot more solid and willing horse instead of
one that is frustrated and inconsistant from being "rammed and
jammed" on. Keeping the horse's mind quiet and letting
him enjoy his job is top priority.
